That’s a Wrap: Gundo Comedy & BBQ Festival 2025
What. A. Weekend.
From the moment the brisket hit the smoker to the last laugh echoing out of our warehouse, the Gundo Comedy & BBQ Festival was everything we hoped it would be—and more. We kicked things off on Friday, June 6th, with a sold-out comedy show in the WWOO warehouse. Nothing like some belly laughs to go with the smell of smoked meat.
Then came Saturday: a BBQ double-header featuring two legendary pitmasters—Moe Cason and Mel Chmilar Jr. (aka Dark Side of the Grill)—leading back-to-back masterclasses that brought the heat, the knowledge, and a whole lot of flavor. From technique to tips to the sheer passion these guys bring to the pit, it was unforgettable.
And none of it would’ve been possible without the pitmasters, comedians, vendors, friends, and staff who helped take over our WWOO showroom and warehouse from Wednesday to Monday. Y’all made it happen. It was an incredible team effort, and we’re already dreaming (and scheming) about how to make next year even bigger and better.
But in the midst of all the smoke, laughs, and pulled pork, we couldn’t help but notice something.
Where are the girls at?
That’s why we’re launching something new this July called Grill Power—a month-long mini series celebrating the badass women of BBQ. Because let’s be real: fire, smoke, and flavor aren’t just for the boys.
Every Friday in July, we’ll be spotlighting a different woman who’s out there changing the BBQ game—sharing their stories, their tips, and why they love what they do. We’ll be featuring some amazing names like Robyn Lindars (aka Grill Girl) and Misty Banchero (aka Seattle Butcher’s Wife), with a little Q+A here on the blog and some special shoutouts happening over on Instagram.
So whether you’re a backyard BBQ rookie or a seasoned pit pro, I hope you’ll join us in lifting up the women who are showing the world that the grill is for the girls!
Stay tuned. Grill Power starts July 3rd.
